Niemeyer's pavilion was built from steel, aluminium, concrete and glass. The main floor containing the cafe was raised and accessed either by stairs on one side or a long, bright red ramp on the other. Although the structure appeared to float above the grass, there was actually another mostly submerged space below the main floor.
